Cain is a partnership between its CEO, Jonathan Goldstein, and Eldridge Industries. Cain International Advisers Limited, the firm’s asset management and investment advisory division, is an SEC-registered investment adviser.



Purpose of the Role

The Capital Market role will be a new role to assist Cain in optimizing relationships and
building third-party sources for debt and equity capital. Primary responsibility will be
strategy and execution of raising capital for the construction of One Beverly Hills.

In addition, the individual will be responsible for the coordination of financing,
restructuring current equity investments and future disposals/ sales. As the business
continues to grow, they will also be a key part of developing strategy and looking at
future capital raising together with a growing and developing team.

The Senior Vice President will also build strong relationships with operational partners,
project teams and internal stakeholders.



Key responsibilities

  • Oversight of the full spectrum of capital market activities. Working with project
    teams to optimize third party debt and equity capital as needed.
  • Develop strong relationships with banks and market participants to raise Cain’s
    profile and investor reach.
  • For the Beverly Hills Project. Manage the capital raising process including
    construction loan origination, subordinate financing, and third party equity
    investment needed to fund the project
  • Identifying, recommending, and executing capital market initiatives to
    capitalise on opportunities and to mitigate risks and prepare recommendations
    to the relevant boards of directors or investment committee
  • For the global portfolio understand our third-party debt capital structure,
    including projecting our short and long-term capital needs and providing
    funding recommendations as needed
  • Evaluate IPOS, REIT structuring and other public market products for specific investments
  • Identify currency, FX and other hedging needs and opportunities
  • Manage investors, including regular discussions with our lenders
  • Project Manager for special projects led by our Chief Investment Officer,
  • Execute ad hoc financial analyses led by our Chief Financial Officer and
    Chairman
  • Build a deep understanding of our operating business, and create relationships
    with our Executives and leaders across Finance & Accounting
  • Assist in developing market related strategy and data analytics and strategy
  • Working with internal stakeholders across tax, legal and compliance to ensure
    the financings meet the defined frameworks and regulations across these
    areas.
  • Accurate financial modelling and evaluation of capital market opportunities
    (such as refinancing, syndication) using Excel, generating the key performance
    indicators of unlevered and levered IRR’s and equity multiples and running
    sensitivities.


Experience

Candidates should have a strong track record of investment, with good financial skills,
commercial judgement and detailed understanding of underlying commercial real estate dynamics. Candidates must be driven and able to source and manage the full
spectrum of capital raising initiatives for One Beverly Hills. They should have significant
on-the-ground experience of real estate development financing and investment, not
just in bull markets. It is important that the individual be creative, have an energetic
approach to business and the ambition to make a difference.

Key qualifications include:

  • 10 – 15 years real estate experience in the U.S. within a commercial bank or
    principal finance division of an investment bank, alternative lender/debt fund,
    private equity firm, or an institutional property company
  • Strong track record of managing and closing financing transactions in major
    U.S. markets.
  • Detailed, hands-on knowledge of the U.S. real estate investment markets with
    a strong and diverse network of contacts
  • Ability to manage external legal, property, banking, corporate, and
    development professionals
  • Ability to get involved in a diverse range of work, having had experience of
    operating across a variety of sectors, not just an expert in one sector (e.g.
    retail) or one approach (e.g. development)
  • Deep understanding of the capital structure and the different uses of debt in a
    real estate transaction
  • Ability to combine property knowledge with detailed financial analysis; strong
    cash flow analysis is crucial
  • Ambitious and prepared to commit to the firm and role for many years on both
    a corporate and personal level
  • Excellent negotiation skills and knowledge of typical financing terms,
    construction contracts, partnership agreements, and related property
    documents
  • Collegiate with excellent interpersonal and team management skills, and solid
    management and administrative skills for effective co-ordination of resources
