London, 8 November 2023: Cain International (‘Cain’), the privately held investment firm, has agreed five separate lettings at Islington Square, bringing the mixed-use destination’s retail and hospitality space to 95% let.
The five new deals include a 1,919 sq. ft. letting to Wheat, a childrenswear brand, in what will be its first London store. Additional lettings by Cain have been agreed with independent brands The Rooms, an artisan florist, for a 370 sq. ft. unit as its second London site; homeware retailer, In Residence, which is relocating from nearby Camden Passage to a 474 sq. ft. unit at Islington Square; and women’s clothing brand Percy Langley, which has agreed a 1,439 sq. ft. unit as its second store.
Cain has also let 1,715 sq. ft. in Islington Square to clothing brand The Good Neighbour as a pop-up store expected to run for six months with the potential to convert to a permanent site. These recent deals add to Islington’s Square appeal as a mixed-use destination offering retail and hospitality, residential and workspace to its community in well-connected north London.
The five new lettings bring the total number of deals at Islington Square this year to eight, including The King’s Head Theatre, Energise Games, and Sticky Mango. A neighbourhood retailing destination as well as a dining hotspot, Islington Square is additionally home to notable names such as Anthropologie, Borough Kitchen, Arlo & Jacob, APC and Duck & Dry, and restaurants including Megan’s, Sticky Mango, Prezzo, Bewliehill and Omnom.
Caroline Van Luthje, Owner at Wheat, said: “Islington Square is one of the capital’s most attractive mixed-use destinations, which is why we’re so pleased to be opening our first store here. Given Islington Square is home to so many independent brands, many of which also opened their first physical space here, it felt like a natural choice to join the community that Cain has curated here.”
Robert van Vliet, Vice President for Asset Management at Cain International, said: “Joining our existing strong leisure, retail and F&B offering, the addition of these five new brands to Islington Square continues to demonstrate its status as one of London’s most interesting destinations. We’re delighted to add each of these brands to our growing collection of independent names, which coupled with our thriving F&B and leisure offering means that we can offer an all-day eat, drink, play, shop experience that our guests can find nowhere else.”
